The Church is a place of healing of the soul and body, with a commission by the Risen Lord Jesus Christ to proclaim the Gospel and a hard-to-believe (but true) promise that:

Amen, Amen: anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing, and will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)

What was written by James in apostolic times is still true today:

Are any of you sick? You should call for the presbyters (elders) of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.(James 5:14)

This is what Orthodox Christians have done since Pentecost, in unbroken continuity since the times when the Apostles healed the sick and even raised the dead. In more recent, St John of Kronstadt was a great wonder-worker whose healing ministry inspired a great renewal of faith and zeal in the Lord who is “active and active among us.”

If you are sick or would like to be prayed for and anointed for any reason, you do not have to be an Orthodox Christian but simply to reach out as ask. You may contact our parish priest at 443-2099 (leave a message and it will be returned very promptly) or by email at priest@eurekafirstchurch.com

Healing services would be typically performed after Vespers on Tuesday evening but can be arranged at other times and take place at the hospital. The same All-Mighty Lord of Glory is at work today, to bring peace and “healing in his wings” (Mal 4:2):

And God did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them. (Act 19:11)
